{"id":206961,"date":"2021-08-24T17:35:36","date_gmt":"2021-08-24T21:35:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/chemistry-biochemistry\/?p=206961"},"modified":"2021-08-24T17:35:36","modified_gmt":"2021-08-24T21:35:36","slug":"ires-summer-biology-research-program-in-japan-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/chemistry-biochemistry\/2021\/08\/24\/ires-summer-biology-research-program-in-japan-2\/","title":{"rendered":"IRES: Summer Biology Research Program in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This grant-funded international research program allows students to engage in scientific collaborations at top biology institutes in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Funded by the National Science Foundation (<a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/awardsearch\/showAward?AWD_ID=1952513&amp;HistoricalAwards=false\" target=\"_blank\">NSF Project #1952513<\/a>), this summer program (including nine weeks in Japan) will provide students with invaluable research and intercultural experiences while working with an international team of biologists on CRISPR-Cas9 techniques generating transgenic fish to study genetic elements regulating\u00a0 behavior.<\/p>\n<p>The program is open to Montclair State and non-Montclair State students who are advanced undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in state-of-the-art gene editing molecular biology techniques.
