{"id":3751,"date":"2019-08-28T13:21:38","date_gmt":"2019-08-28T17:21:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/chss-digital-media-colab\/?p=3751"},"modified":"2019-11-22T11:56:40","modified_gmt":"2019-11-22T16:56:40","slug":"grants-digital-project-grants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/chss-digital-media-colab\/2019\/08\/28\/grants-digital-project-grants\/","title":{"rendered":"Digital Project Grants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Grant Name:<\/strong> Digital Project Grants<\/p>\n<p><strong>Award Amount:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a340,000<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:<\/strong> September\u00a030, 2019 .<\/p>\n<p>Digital Project Grants are offered annually to institutions to help support a curator or research scholar undertaking a digital research project or research which will lead to a digital or online project.<\/p>\n<p>The Grant is an award of up to \u00a340,000.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Scope<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Digital Project Grants are specifically designed to help institutions, galleries or museums towards the costs of supporting\u00a0a curator or research scholar undertaking a digital research project or research which will lead to a digital or online project. These projects could take the form of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An online exhibition or curation of a digital project relating to British art or architectural history, or related topic<\/li>\n<li>An online catalogue or database of a collection or archive, or an online catalogue or database of a specific part of a collection or archive<\/li>\n<li>A\u00a0research project using digital technologies, for example 3-D scanning or modelling, or which might make use of large datasets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Funding<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Digital Project Grants\u00a0are offered for up to a maximum of \u00a340,000 to cover the full length of the project. Applications for less than \u00a340,000 are also eligible.<\/p>\n<p>An institution may apply for a Digital Project Grant to provide replacement staff costs to provide temporary cover for a curatorial staff member to work on a digital project.<\/p>\n<p>Up to 33% of the proposed project budget may be allotted to capital costs such as the digitisation of resources, or web development.<\/p>\n<p>The award will be paid directly to the institution as a lump sum only.<\/p>\n<p>The institution should give details of any financial support already in place or funding expected or being sought from other sources.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"ui-id-5\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>Our funding programme supports scholarship, academic research and the dissemination of knowledge in the field of British art and architectural history only. All supported topics must have an historical perspective and all applications must demonstrate their association with the field of British art or architectural history.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are open to international as well as national institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must demonstrate that any project will include scholarly research within the scope of the work.<\/p>\n<p>Only one\u00a0Digital Project Grant application per institution will be considered each year.<\/p>\n<p>For further questions on eligibility please contact the <a href=\"mailto:grants@paul-mellon-centre.ac.uk\">Fellowships &amp; Grants Manager<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Application<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Digital Project Grants\u00a0are offered in our Autumn round of funding, applications will open mid August and close on 30 September.<\/p>\n<p>To apply for a Digital Project Grant you must use our online system at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/grants.paul-mellon-centre.ac.uk\/\">grants.paul-mellon-centre.ac.uk<\/a>. Once registered you will be able to fill out the online application form (example of which can be downloaded below) and provide the details of\u00a0<strong>two referees.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications and nominated referee details must be received by\u00a0<strong>30 September<\/strong>, referees have until\u00a0<strong>10 October<\/strong>\u00a0to submit their references.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Due to the large amount of funding offered, institutions should provide a comprehensive and detailed timeline and budget in their application<\/li>\n<li>The institution must provide details of the expected outcomes of the project in the application. Digital project research might result in a virtual or online exhibition (physical or virtual), an online exhibition catalogue, or an online catalogue of part of a collection or archive.<\/li>\n<li>All content produced as a result of the grant award must be released under a Creative Commons licence (see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/\">https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must demonstrate the long-term sustainability of the project as a digital resource, including a commitment from the host institution to maintain the supporting infrastructure in perpetuity<\/li>\n<li>The institution must provide annual reports on the projects progress until completion and a final report six months after the project has been completed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paul-mellon-centre.ac.uk\/fellowships-and-grants\/digital-project-grants\">Digital Project Grants<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grant Name: Digital Project Grants Award Amount:\u00a0\u00a340,000 Application Deadline: September\u00a030, 2019 .
