Study Abroad

Italy--the #1 non-English speaking country for American students!*

The Italian Program believes strongly in the Study Abroad program for our majors, minors and for any other students taking Italian. The experience of studying and living in Italy enhances students' understanding of the native culture while improving their language skills.

Montclair State University offers a number of programs:

  • Summer in Perugia
Faculty-Led 5-week summer program for all students
Live, study and explore the preserved Etruscan walls, medieval churches, and impressive Renaissance and Baroque architecture, juxtaposed with a vibrant and contemporary city, its restaurants, jazz cafes, piano bars, theatres, cinemas, pubs, museums, and art exhibits. Perugia blends antiquity seamlessly with the present day. The program ensures that the city is your classroom, with all that it has to offer. Take courses in Italian language (elementary to advanced) and Italian culture and civilization in English (art, cinema, literature) or media (broadcasting), for a total of 6 credits.
