Faculty member, Dr. Michael Boyle, gives invited research presentation

On July 4th, 2017, Dr. Michael Boyle, assistant professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders, gave an invited presentation at the National Stuttering Association’s Research Symposium in Dallas, Texas. The two day symposium included several cutting-edge presentations from leading researchers in the field focusing on how quality of life is impacted by stuttering and societal influences. Dr. Boyle’s presentation, titled “Public stigma and stuttering: Improving attitudes through advocacy,” was well received by attendees including researchers, speech-language pathologists, advocates, and persons who stutter. Through the presentations and discussion groups that followed, the symposium helped generate ideas for improving quality of life and societal participation for individuals who stutter.
