Panel Discussion: Immigrants and Immigration Monday, October 24
The social unrest and instability of institutions in many regions of the world have had massive ripple effects on democracy. Most recently, leaders have been suspended, impeached, and removed. What does this mean for democratic governance?
Please join our “Democracy in Crisis” workshop on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., where we will investigate the challenges and promises in democratic politics. The workshop will include the presentation of research and the subsequent demonstration of review/critique sessions featuring top scholars in comparative politics. Both the commentators and presenters will share insights on democracy, populism, and Latin America amongst other things. We will close our workshop with a keynote address by Philippe Schmitter, one of the founders of democratization studies who will be discussing the contemporary challenges for democracy. This may be a great opportunity for the red hawk community, and students both graduate and undergraduate interested in research and scholarship. All faculty and students are welcome. Below are brief bios of our guests, and a schedule for the event, save the date!
