The Psychology Department is home to over 1,000 majors, making Psychology one of the most popular majors at Montclair State. We also offer two minors: one in Psychology and an interdisciplinary minor in Cognitve Science.
Major: Psychology (38 credits)
The Psychology major can be utilized in many career fields. It is an excellent major for students who wish to pursue K-5 teacher certification in New Jersey. If you are planning to pursue teacher certification in K-5, please visit the Teacher Education Program site and compare your major program of study to the professional sequence for certification. If you have any questions, please visit your advisor or an advisor in the Center of Pedagogy.
Minor: Psychology (18 credits)
The Psychology minor complements any major on campus. Why not use those free electives to pick up our minor? All you need to do is complete the form to add a major/minor and have our department chair sign it. Visit us in Dickson Hall #219.
The Cognitive Science minor is a great interdsciplinary minor and requires the completion of 20 credits. Please contact Dr. David Townsend for more information.
