The first Amendment to the Constitution of the United States protects freedom of speech, a fundamental and human right of all American citizens. The right protects all speech regardless of its content. Any attempt to restrict speech at public colleges and universities is a direct violation of the United States Constitution. The restrictions set forth by the first amendment establish that students, factually and administrators do not have the right to silence any individual or group of individuals.<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Things To Remember<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<div class=\"prpl-row\"><div class=\"prpl-column one-fourth\">\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\">\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/civic-and-voter-engagement\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/107\/2022\/02\/engage.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/civic-and-voter-engagement\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/107\/2022\/02\/engage.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"clip art stick-figure waving\"\/><\/figure><\/figure>\n<\/div><div class=\"prpl-column three-fourths\">\n<p><strong>Engaging Will Only Fuel The Fire<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A speakers&#8217; goal is to get a reaction from their audience, either positive or negative and have you engage with them. How you act can be documented and possibly posted online or on social media platforms without context.
