Offshore wind is gaining momentum off the coasts of New Jersey and New York. In February 2022, a New York Bight lease auction by BOEM brought in a record-breaking $4.37 billion from six US offshore renewable energy groups. In New Jersey, Governor Murphy expanded the state\u2019s offshore wind goal by nearly 50 percent to 11,000 megawatts (MW) by 2040 and also directed the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to study the feasibility of increasing the target further. This session will explore recent developments in area of Offshore Wind, ongoing projects, perspectives on energy transition, grid interconnection, and supply chain and workforce development.<\/dd>\n

New Jersey is the first in the nation to make climate change education required for all grade school students starting September 2022. We\u2019ve invited K-12 teachers across NJ schools to submit their students\u2019 artwork based on a future based on clean and sustainable energy.<\/dd>\n

Hydrogen fuel cells are a clean energy efficiency technology which is being explored as a means towards reaching the state\u2019s clean energy goals for both stationary and mobile applications. On March 24, 2022 the governors of New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut announced their partnership to propose a regional clean hydrogen hub in consortium with several hydrogen ecosystem supply chain affiliates. This session will discuss the New Jersey Fuel Cell Task Force report developed in partnership with CESAC which discusses the state of the hydrogen fuel cell economy, and their recommendations for integrating hydrogen fuel and fuel cell technology into existing and future policy.<\/dd>\n
