Novelist and Studio 360<\/em> host Kurt Andersen will deliver the fourth annual Montclair State University Terhune Journalism Lecture on Wednesday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Leshowitz Hall at Montclair State\u2019s John J. Cali School of Music.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Conversation with Kurt Andersen\u201d is sponsored by the Albert Payson Terhune Foundation, as well as by the Montclair State School of Communication and Media and College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The event is free and open to the public. RSVP information is below. School of Communication and Media Director Merrill Brown will interview Andersen in what promises to be a wide-ranging discussion about broadcast media, writing and publishing. <\/p>\n

\u201cKurt Andersen has reported for and edited the nation\u2019s finest magazines, written acclaimed fiction and hosts one of the most thoughtful and creative programs in radio,\u201d says Brown. \u201cKurt\u2019s body of work over more than three decades demonstrates a commitment to journalistic integrity, new ideas and compelling writing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andersen is host of Studio 360<\/em>, the Peabody Award-winning public radio guide to what\u2019s happening in pop culture and the arts, which is coproduced by Public Radio International and WNYC. A cofounder of Spy<\/em> magazine, he has written for such publications as The New Yorker<\/em>, New York Magazine<\/em> and Time<\/em>. He has written three novels: the national bestseller, Turn of the Century<\/em>, Langum Prize-winning, Heyday<\/em> and True Believers<\/em>. He is also the author of The Real Thing<\/em>, a book of humorous essays.<\/p>\n

Andersen\u2019s conversation with Brown will touch on a broad range of topics that draw on his wide experience as a radio host and as a prolific author of both fiction and nonfiction. \u201cHe is uniquely positioned to talk about the changing landscape of journalism and media and will speak to a variety of topics that bridge both broadcasting and publishing,\u201d says Montclair State English Professor Caroline Dadas.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the tradition of previous Terhune Journalism speakers, Kurt brings a commitment to breaking new ground and providing readers and listeners with meaningful experiences to all his work,\u201d notes Brown. \u201cOur discussion with him will no doubt be similarly provocative and entertaining.\u201d <\/p>\n

Last year, Ken Auletta of The New Yorker<\/em> was the speaker at the third annual Terhune Journalism Lecture. Veteran reporter Dale Russakoff, formerly of The Washington Post<\/em>, was the series\u2019 inaugural speaker in 2012, while sportswriters Harvey Araton of The New York Times<\/em> and Phil Mushnick of the New York Post<\/em> spoke in 2013. <\/p>\n
