DuMont Broadcaster of the Year Award. Huff received the award at a Colloquium attended by SCM students, faculty and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Huff is an award-winning journalist, who recently celebrated her 20th. anniversary at New York&#8217;s WNBC-TV and appeared regularly on NBC&#8217;s &quot;Today&quot; show. She&#8217;s covered a wide variety of weather events from the Blizzard of &#8217;96 to Hurricane Sandy. She&#8217;s been honored for her work on &quot;Wednesday&#8217;s Child,&quot; a weekly segment on NBC 4 that helps find adoptive families for children in foster care. Prior to joining NBC 4, Huff was the primary meteorologist at KRON-TV in San Francisco. She also worked for local stations in St. Louis, Columbus, Ga. and Chattanooga, Tn.<\/p>\n<p>Huff told students about her career path, including the major impact of an internship in weather at a station in Tallahassee, Fl. when she was a student at Florida State University. In addition to Colloquium, Huff also discussed her career and current trends in meteorology with SCM Associate Professor Marc Rosenweig during a special edition of SCM&#8217;s weekly television program &quot;Carpe Diem.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The DuMont award, first presented in 1982, has grown steadily in prestige.&nbsp; WNBC-TV&#8217;s Bruce Beck was another recent honoree. The award is in recognition of Allen B. DuMont, early television inventor and programmer.&nbsp; Over the years, some of the other honorees include former Senator Bill Bradley,&nbsp; Inside Edition anchor Deborah Norville, WCBS-TV anchor Kristine Johnson, CBS Sports announcer Ian Eagle, WCBS Radio chopper 880 reporter Tom Kaminski, WABC-TV anchor\/reporter Joe Torres, WWOR-TV anchor Brenda Blackmon and WABC-TV Reporter N.J.
