{"id":209403,"date":"2022-04-05T17:13:51","date_gmt":"2022-04-05T21:13:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/college-of-communication-and-media\/?p=209403"},"modified":"2022-04-05T17:17:28","modified_gmt":"2022-04-05T21:17:28","slug":"scm-students-participate-in-nbcu-academy-event-livestreamed-from-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/college-of-communication-and-media\/2022\/04\/05\/scm-students-participate-in-nbcu-academy-event-livestreamed-from-campus\/","title":{"rendered":"SCM Students Participate in NBCU Academy Event Live Streamed from Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The School of Communication and Media (SCM)\u00a0hosted live segments for the NBCU Academy\u2019s Next Level Summit today, a virtual event for aspiring student journalists that featured advice and learning opportunities from network executives and on-air talent from NBC News, CNBC, Telemundo and MSNBC.<\/p>\n<p>NBC News reporter Zinhle Essamuah and a production team from the network live streamed from an SCM classroom during the three-hour event, which covered the future of journalism, networking tips, and advice for students who want to make their mark in news and storytelling.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly two dozen journalism students from SCM participated in person while over 1,800 joined virtually across the world. Several SCM students had the opportunity to ask NBC News Group Chairman Cesar Conde questions.\u00a0 One of the highlights was senior Anadaji Cruz Rosario asking Conde about his and NBC\u2019s commitment to diversity, specifically that 50% of its employees would be people of color and 50% women:<\/p>\n<p><!-- unable to parse oembed using DOM --><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">That&#39;s one of our star students, Anandaji Cruz Rosario, asking <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cesarconde_?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@cesarconde_<\/a> a terrific question about <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NBCUniversal?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NBCUniversal<\/a> News Group&#39;s commitment to diversity in the workplace.
