{"id":212177,"date":"2026-05-18T16:47:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-18T20:47:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/college-of-communication-and-media\/?p=212177"},"modified":"2026-05-18T17:07:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-18T21:07:07","slug":"roxane-depaire-becomes-first-graduate-of-montclair-ccoms-international-diploma-in-journalism-and-digital-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/college-of-communication-and-media\/2026\/05\/18\/roxane-depaire-becomes-first-graduate-of-montclair-ccoms-international-diploma-in-journalism-and-digital-media\/","title":{"rendered":"Roxane Depaire Becomes First Graduate of Montclair CCOM\u2019s International Diploma in Journalism and Digital Media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Roxane Depaire\u00a0<span class=\"gmail_default\">has<\/span>\u00a0made history\u00a0by becoming the first student to\u00a0<span class=\"gmail_default\">earn<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"gmail_default\">the\u00a0<\/span>International Diploma in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/academics\/programs\/ba-journalism-and-digital-media\/\">Journalism and Digital Media<\/a><span class=\"gmail_default\">\u00a0from the College of Communication and Media at Montclair State University.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"gmail_default\">The\u00a0<\/span>one-year, 30-credit program is designed to immerse students in modern journalism through hands-on coursework in writing, reporting, podcasting, multimedia storytelling and personal brand development. Students also gain\u00a0international reporting<span class=\"gmail_default\">\u00a0experience<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"gmail_default\">by telling<\/span> real stories in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Originally from southwestern France and now studying in Paris at the EFAP International School of Communication, Depaire said the program <span class=\"gmail_default\">helped her\u00a0<\/span>fulfill a long-held dream.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince I started my studies, I have dream<span class=\"gmail_default\">ed\u00a0<\/span>of going abroad to study for a year in the U.S.,\u201d\u00a0Depaire said.\u00a0\u201cWhen I discovered this program, I knew it would be a perfect fit for me and my goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During her time on campus, she said the<span class=\"gmail_default\">\u00a0program&#8217;s hands-on approach<\/span>\u00a0stood out most.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat surprised me the most was how practical the approach is,\u201d she said. \u201cWe have access to professional equipment and opportunities to work on real projects, with a lot of freedom on what we want to talk about and what stories we want to tell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"gmail_default\">One of her<\/span>\u00a0favorite academic project<span class=\"gmail_default\">s\u00a0<\/span>came in a multimedia storytelling course, where she produced a feature\u00a0f<span class=\"gmail_default\">ocused\u00a0<\/span>on live theatre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough this project, I was able to meet incredible people with amazing stories to tell<span class=\"gmail_default\">,&#8221;<\/span>\u00a0she said. \u201cI<span class=\"gmail_default\">\u00a0also\u00a0<\/span>had the opportunity to talk to theatre professionals and understand their perspectives<span class=\"gmail_default\">.\u00a0<\/span>It was a very enriching experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also embraced the opportunity to bring an international lens to the classroom, saying that sharing\u00a0<span class=\"gmail_default\">a worldly\u00a0<\/span>perspective<span class=\"gmail_default\">\u00a0<\/span>helped classmates \u201csee things from new angles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a tremendous accomplishment for Roxane, and we are proud she chose Montclair&#8217;s College of Communication and Media to help launch her international journalism career,&#8221; said Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/profilepages\/view_profile.php?username=strudlerk\">Keith Strudler<\/a>, Dean of the College of Communication and Media. &#8220;We are excited to watch her journey from afar and hope her work inspires other students around the world to choose this program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Depaire\u00a0echoed Dr. Strudler&#8217;s sentiment. \u201cIt\u2019s something I\u2019m really proud of,\u201d she said. \u201cI hope it encourages other international students to take this opportunity, and shows that it\u2019s possible to succeed in a completely different academic environment than what we\u2019re used to.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4><b>Ready to Start Your Montclair Journey?<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><b>Prospective Students and Parents:<\/b>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/admissions\/visit-us\/\"><b>Plan your visit<\/b><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apply.montclair.edu\/register\/inquire\"><b>take your first step<\/b><\/a>\u00a0in applying to become a Red Hawk.
