Montclair State University recognizes that graduation and the celebratory Commencement ceremony are true milestones in each candidate’s life and that of his or her guests. Excitement, joy and enthusiasm are expected and welcomed! However, we ask that all guests respect and preserve the importance and the dignity of this formal occasion, and observe the following guidelines intended to ensure all participants can enjoy the ceremony:

  • Arrive on time and remain seated throughout the entire ceremony.
  • Silence all electronic devices and refrain from loud talking or cheering, and the use of air horns or noisemakers.
