In the Spatial Hearing Lab we study the effects of hostile listening environments on localization accuracy and speech understanding in noise. Our recent studies have examined
- the impact of hearing protection devices on speech understanding in several levels of machine noise;
- the implications of using personal listening devices on localization accuracy in quiet and in noise;
- the impact of texting on localization accuracy;
- the impact of different types of distractors on localization accuracy.
