This $5,000 award is given to new faculty in higher education to support their academic and research endeavors in the field of communication sciences and disorders (CSD). The AARC has been awarded since 2004.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Lesley Sylvan<\/strong>, Montclair State University<br \/>\nTeaching Mentor: Janet Koehnke, Montclair State University<br \/>\nResearch Mentor: Elaine Hitchcock, Montclair State University<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Sylvan\u2019s research program is\u00a0focused on conducting research that empower practitioners to quantify the impact of SLPs\u2019 various prevention-oriented practices on student literacy outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Michelle Swartz<\/strong>, Thomas Jefferson University<br \/>\nTeaching Mentor: Kathryn Cabbage, Brigham Young University<br \/>\nResearch Mentor: Laura Koenig, Adelphi University<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Swartz\u2019s research program is focused on increasing clinician\u2019s understanding and use of acoustic analysis methods in disordered speech and voice populations.
