Overview
We are excited to offer a postdoctoral fellowship designed for a professional interested in working in a University Counseling Center. This 12-month position (September 1 – August 31) combines clinical work, supervision and outreach. The postdoctoral fellow will deliver a full range of clinical services to a college student population including assessment, consultation, individual and group treatment. There will also be opportunities to provide outreach and emergency services to the University community. During the summer months, time will be provided for licensing exam preparation. Fellows will be involved in weekly clinical seminars and will participate in both individual and group supervision with licensed psychologists.
Clinical Work
Fellows carry a caseload of approximately 15 individual therapy cases per week. The majority of these will be short-term cases with the possibility of one to two longer-term cases. Fellows conduct two intakes each week and participate in the after-hours on-call rotation.
Group Therapy / Process Observation
Fellows will have the opportunity to co-lead a group and/or serve as a process observer in an interpersonal process group at CAPS. Fellows may elect to participate in our psycho-educational alcohol and other drugs group, Exploring Change and Healthy Options (ECHO).
Supervision
Fellows meet with their individual supervisor for at least two hours of supervision each week. More individual supervision can be provided if needed based on client load or difficulty. Fellows may receive two additional hours of supervision in the form of weekly group and peer supervision.
Fellowship Application
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have completed all professional doctoral degree requirements in clinical, counseling or school psychology from an accredited program prior to the fellowship start date. Multicultural competence with diverse populations is required.
Desired Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications and experience include a minimum of one year of University Counseling Center experience, APA approved program and pre-doctoral internship, short-term psychotherapy experience, and passion for outreach.
