Who can participate in Early College Programs?

Please click here to see the eligibility requirements.

Can I take any class I want to?

Students may choose from a wide variety of undergraduate courses within the 100 and 200 levels. View our suggested course list. Students participating in a specific program/institute should check their acceptance letter regarding which course(s) to take.  For students with questions about foreign language courses, please click here.

There is no fee at the time of application for Early College applicants.

Do I have to reside in New Jersey?

No, you do not have to reside in New Jersey to apply to an Early College Program.

Can I apply if I'm being homeschooled?

Yes, but since you will not have an academic transcript, the Essay/Personal Statement is required.

Will my credits transfer?

All credits taken with Early College Programs at Montclair State University will transfer to a Montclair State University degree.  For other institutions, we recommend you contact that college/university directly and that you review their transfer policy when choosing which Early College course(s) to take.

How do I apply? What is the deadline?

The deadlines and instructions for how to apply can be found here.

When does the semester start/finish?

View the Academic Calendar.

It depends on the course. On the course schedule, you can search by term and subject for classes, read a description, see the class type, meeting dates and times, location, instructor, date range, and required course materials.

You can, but please note that you are still required to register and pay for the class.  You would need to fill out an audit application, the department chair needs to sign it, and then it goes to the Registrar’s Office for processing.  Please review the Audit Policy and note that audited courses do not carry academic credit so we advise against this option for Early College Program participants.

When will I be notified if I am accepted?
