Congratulations on your acceptance to Montclair State University! We have prepared this checklist to ensure you have an easy transition to university life. Please complete all steps and contact us<\/a> if you have any questions.<\/p>\n

Step<\/span> 1<\/span><\/div>\n
Know Your Campus-wide ID (CWID) and PIN<\/div>
\n

Your Campus-Wide ID (CWID) and PIN are your keys to becoming a Montclair State University student. These were assigned to you when you were accepted to the University. Please locate the email with the subject line, “Montclair State Status Update,” and click on the blue hyperlink in the email. This will direct you to the application portal where you will be asked to login and you can then access your decision letter, which will contain your CWID and PIN.<\/span><\/p>\n

Activate Your NETID<\/div>
\n

Your NET ID is your login for many web-based University systems, including your Google account. You will receive your NET ID and instructions for how to activate it in an email with the subject line, “Activate your Montclair State University Net ID.” As part of activating your NET ID, you\u2019ll have to confirm your identity through a challenge question. As a new student, you must choose the \u201cCWID\u201d challenge question (please note it asks for the last FOUR digits only).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After you activate your NetID, you MUST<\/strong> enroll and set up Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) before classes begin<\/strong> for access to University systems. Duo Mobile makes logging in easier by providing a verification code through your phone or device. An email will be sent to you with instructions. Learn More about DUO<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It may take 24 hours until you\u2019re able to successfully log in to other campus systems after setting up your NetID. To access your Montclair Google account, sign into Google.com with your NetID@montclair.edu Gmail and password. Don\u2019t forget to add your new Montclair email to your phone and check it regularly! This where you\u2019ll receive official messages from your advisor and the University, and about exciting topics like orientation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Complete Mandatory Health Requirements<\/div>
\n

Within 48 hours of activating your NET ID (step 2 of the checklist), you will be able to access the MyHealthPortal<\/a> to upload your vaccination records. Immunization Requirements for Montclair students are viewable here<\/a>. To see exemption forms, please click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Submit all immunization documentation<\/strong> through MyHealthPortal<\/a>. (Please note, requests for medical exemption must be uploaded to MyHealthPortal<\/a> as well.) Learn more about how to submit your immunization forms<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t delay! You may be de-registered from your courses if your vaccination records aren\u2019t received by <\/strong>posted deadlines<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Complete Your Placement Testing/Submit Your AP Scores (if applicable)<\/div>

  1. If you want to continue studying a world language you have studied previously, you will need to take the Foreign Language Placement Test.<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Certain courses require the ALEKS Placement Test. You can read more about requirements and exceptions here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. If you have received any AP scores, you will need to send the University the verified score report from College Board.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Build Your Class Schedule<\/div>
      \n

      To assist in making a smooth transition to life as a Red Hawk, we recommend scheduling a virtual Academic Advising appointment with our office here<\/a>. Prior to the appointment, please take some time to review our suggested course list on this webpage.<\/a><\/p>\n

      Click here<\/a> to see your registration time (look for Early College Program). Note that registration times represent your first time to register, not the only time. <\/strong>To register for classes, log into your NEST<\/a> account with your NETID and password and click on \u201cRegister for Classes\u201d. The new site will provide you with links to look up the course catalog, register for and add\/drop a class, view your class schedule, and more.\u00a0Remember to check for any holds<\/a>!<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Review The Disability Resource Center Process (if applicable)<\/div>
      \n

      Montclair State University is committed to the full inclusion of students with disabilities in all curricular and co-curricular activities as mandated by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The Disability Resource Center (DRC) will assist you in receiving the accommodations and services necessary to equalize access. The DRC provides assistance to students with physical, sensory, learning, psychological, neurological, and chronic medical disabilities.\u200c Students registered with the DRC must request the Accommodation Notice each semester in<\/span> AIM<\/a><\/strong>. Accessing the system and\/or instructions to assist you in requesting the Accommodation Notice for schedule quizzes and exams in the DRC Testing Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Pay Your Student Account<\/div>

      We offer a number of tuition payment options to meet your needs. Find out when bills are generated<\/a> and payment options.<\/a>\u00a0To pay your Student Account Bill, log into NEST<\/a> and on the top right corner, click on \u201cStudent Accounts\u201d, the new site will provide you with links to view and pay your bill, set up direct deposit if needed, and information on payment plans, if applicable.<\/p>\n

      If you are enrolling in a dual enrollment program affiliated with your high school, please consult with your high school advisor for details regarding your payment arrangement.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

      Connect With Your Coach<\/div>

      All Early College Program students are assigned an Academic Success Coach who plays a vital role in supporting your academic journey as you transition from high school to college-level coursework. In addition to offering one-on-one support, your Academic Success Coach will help you build and strengthen essential skills for success, including time management, organization, effective study strategies, and note-taking techniques. Take the opportunity to connect with your Academic Success Coach and begin building a foundation for lifelong learning. Get to know your Coach and learn more here<\/a>!<\/p>\n
