A past National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow, he has published articles in Mediaeval Studies and Manuscripta. His research concerns the intellectual history of the Middle Ages and Italian Renaissance, with a focus on the history of classical scholarship and learning, specifically the work of the Quattrocento Florentine humanist, Angelo Poliziano.
