The\u00a0women participated in a panel discussion moderated by Gloria Feldt, a women&#8217;s empowerment expert, who also gave a keynote address.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The event\u00a0kicked off the first of three public events held at Montclair\u00a0State for <a href=\"\/entrepreneur\/womens-entrepreneurship-week\/\">Women Entrepreneurship Week<\/a>, which was organized by the <a href=\"\/entrepreneur\/\">Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship<\/a>. About 175 people came to the free event on Oct. 14.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"color: windowtext;\">The alumnae included:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><strong>Wamwari Waichungo<\/strong> &#8217;90, a CEHS grad who is now VP Global Scientific and Regulatory Affairs for The Coca-Cola Company;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: black;\"><strong><span style=\"color: windowtext;\">Kathy Duva<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: windowtext;\"> &#8217;75, a CHSS alum who is\u00a0CEO of Main Events, a\u00a0professional boxing promotion company that\u00a0has launched or promoted the careers of a stunning array of world champions, including Sergey &#8220;Krusher&#8221; Kovalev, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis; <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: black;\"><strong><span style=\"color: windowtext;\">Elena Kilpatrick<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: windowtext;\"> &#8217;87, an SBUS alum who is VP and general manager of Pennsylvania Operations for Frontier Communications; and<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: black;\"><strong>Tracy Doyle<\/strong> &#8217;88, a CHSS alum who is president and CEO of Phoenix Marketing Solutions, with\u00a0more than 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.<\/p>\n<p>Before the event, the alumnae reflected on what it was like to return to campus, for some after many years. Kilpatrick said it was &#8220;stunning&#8221; to see the changes on campus. Waichungo said, &#8220;It felt like coming home.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The discussion during the\u00a0formal program focused on women empowerment and leadership.\u00a0During her keynote, Feldt shared her three keys to success: clarity of intention, courage to act, will to connect.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Power unused is power useless,&#8221;\u00a0Feldt\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/montclairstateuniversity.smugmug.com\/2014-July-December\/101414-FelicianoWomens-Leaders\/\"><em><strong>See event photos shot by university photographer Mike Peters.<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The event received positive buzz from attendees on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meetup.com\/Montclair-State-Entrepreneurship\/events\/197529182\/\">Montclair Entrepreneurs Meetup<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I left feeling inspired, encouraged and ready to use\u00a0my power,&#8221;\u00a0Pat wrote in a comment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Your amazing Montclair State alumni panelists as well as Gloria Feldt were so grounded, level-headed and insightful,&#8221; wrote Eva on Meetup.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: black;\">The following quotes were\u00a0captured by Hope Hood, a sophomore Mathematics major,\u00a0who was tweeting as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hyrhood\">@hyrhood<\/a>, and also the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FelicianoCenter\">Feliciano Center&#8217;s Twitter<\/a> account.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0&#8220;Don&#8217;t follow your\u00a0dream. Lead it.&#8221; &#8211;\u00a0Feldt.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The women tended to solve the problems before they happened.&#8221; &#8211; Duva<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We\u00a0shouldn&#8217;t question why the door opened. We should walk in.&#8221; &#8211; Waichungo<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is nothing better than to take over a position that has been failing.&#8221; &#8211; Kilpatrick<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Power is like a hammer. You can build something\u00a0with it, or you can break something.&#8221; &#8211;\u00a0Feldt<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you invest in a woman, you invest in a family,\u00a0a community.
