These stations are available 24\/7 for Facilities staff to use for <a href=\"https:\/\/montclair.csod.com\">Cornerstone<\/a> training, or to access the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myworkday.com\/montclair\/d\/home.htmld\">Workday<\/a> Human Resources system.<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">External Training Requests- Eligibility<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p><strong>Eligible Employees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Classified, Unclassified, and Managerial employees who have been employed full-time at Montclair State University for a period of one year or more are eligible to participate in external professional development and\/or training activities which are directly applicable to the employee\u2019s job responsibilities. The conference or course must be directly related to an employee\u2019s present position or career potential.\u00a0 Employees must enroll in courses while employed by Montclair State University and have eligible employee status upon payment.<\/p>\n<p>Where mandated by job title, staff are required to attend training.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ineligible Employees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Full-time employees who meet the basic eligibility requirements but are in probationary, Leave Without Pay or disciplinary status are not eligible for reimbursement.\u00a0 Individuals whose job performance is not determined to maintain at least a satisfactory rating are not eligible for reimbursement.\u00a0 Part-time, Temporary, Student, and Contract employees are not eligible to participate in this program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">External Training Requests- Procedure<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<ol>\n<li>The employee will complete all Division and University forms and submit them to his or her department manager for approval. If the employee is being assigned to a development course by his or her manager, the manager will complete the forms on behalf of the employee and sign his or her approval.\u00a0 All forms must include written information about the conference or development course and the associated travel, lodging, and registration costs directly from the sponsoring organization and other authorized sources as specified by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/policies\/all-policies\/travel-regulations\/\">Montclair State Travel Regulations policy<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>If approved, the manager will forward the completed and approved forms to the department AVP for approval. If approved, the AVP will forward the forms to UF Training &amp; Development for processing and validation.<\/li>\n<li>UF Training &amp; Development will review the forms, confirm that the employee is eligible to participate, and verify that funding is available before forwarding to the Vice President for final approval.<\/li>\n<li>If after review of forms, the development opportunity or conference is deemed to not be directly applicable to the employee\u2019s job, the request shall be denied by the Vice President. The employee then has the option to attend the development activity or conference on his or her personal time and expense.<\/li>\n<li>UF Training &amp; Development will inform the requestor that the request has been approved (or denied).<\/li>\n<li>The employee will fill out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/finance-and-treasury\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/158\/2021\/11\/Spend-Auth-and-Expense-Request-Job-Aid-11-16-21.pdf\">spend authorization<\/a> form in Workday. This form will require the VPUF to approve before any travel is taken.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">External Training Requests- Reimbursement Procedure<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<ol>\n<li>After completion of the activity, the employee must submit proof of attendance. Remember to get &amp; save receipts for any tolls and parking. University Facilities is more than a workplace. We open the doors to opportunity at Montclair State and we are excited to share the mission of University Facilities.<\/p>\n<p>New full-time hires are required to complete all acclimation and onboarding activities, including orientation programming for the university, the division, and the work unit.\u00a0 Information communicated in the division&#8217;s workshop includes division structure, nomenclature, roles, responsibilities, expectations, and culture. Standing from left, Rajendra Shah, David Lobefaro, Dwight Threepersons, Jhoan Noguiera, Shakira Jackson, Shawn Connolly, Montclair President Jonathan Koppell, Daniel Miller, Amy Ferdinand, Kevin Rizzo and Joseph Marzulla.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/facilities\/2024\/11\/06\/montclair-launches-njs-first-public-university-facilities-apprenticeship-program\/\">Montclair State University administers New Jersey\u2019s first facilities apprenticeship program at a public university<\/a>.\u00a0 This initiative reflects Montclair\u2019s broader mission to support both academic and professional development by offering diverse pathways for learning and career advancement, setting a precedent for facilities workforce training across the state.\u00a0 <strong>Full-time University Facilities employees who are affiliated with the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) bargaining unit are eligible to apply.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Overview<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>The Montclair State University Facilities Apprenticeship Program offers formal Trades training and career advancement for <strong>internal, full-time Facilities staff<\/strong> affiliated with the International Federation of Professional &amp; Technical Engineers (IFPTE) bargaining unit.<\/p>\n<p>This program is registered through the U.S. Department of Labor, providing hands-on training and technical instruction to help participants achieve Journeyman status and enhance their career prospects at Montclair State University.<\/p>\n<p>We currently offer three tracks focused on Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC instruction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Required Technical Instruction<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>Apprentices will attend evening classes at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ssreg.com\/passaic\/\">Passaic County Technical Institute<\/a> to receive the required technical instruction.<\/p>\n<p>Classes are held two nights per week 6:00 p.m. \u2013 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Hands-on training will supplement campus on-the-job learning.<\/p>\n<p>Apprentices are required to complete a minimum of 576 hours of related technical instruction.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">On the Job Training<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>The term of the Apprenticeship Program is approximately 4 years with an on-the-job training (OJT) attainment of 8,000 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Each Apprentice will be assigned a Mentor who will provide them with guidance and support and help them navigate the program and develop their skills.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Requirements<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>Apprentices must be at least 18 years of age<\/li>\n<li>A high school diploma or GED<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to pass an ACT aptitude test<\/li>\n<li>Must possess a valid driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n<li>Submit a resume and participate in the interview process<\/li>\n<li>Must successfully pass the probationary period<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p class=\"prpl-button-row\"><span class=\"prpl-button\"><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/AriPrMdkYF7rgqLR7\/\"> Fill Out Interest Form<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>University Facilities Employee Recognition Program<\/h2>\n<p>University Facilities hosts an annual division meeting in June, where we celebrate staff achievements in leadership, education, job performance, workplace creativity, teamwork, and service.<\/p>\n<p>Our highest honor for non-managerial employees, the <strong><em>John W.
