The Pursuit of Happiness

In this series, we as a university community seek to understand happiness, joy, resilience, recovery, and the multiple ways university scholars investigate and explore the effort to fulfill the dream promised in those oft-quoted words: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Questions about the pursuit of happiness take many forms and cuts across disciplinary lines.  From the arts to the sciences, what do we know about the pursuit of happiness and its obstacles?  On a more immediate level, what can we as a university community do to make time for the pursuit of happiness, but also well-being as we enter an academic year full of unknowns.

Faculty are invited to contribute their ideas for panels, workshops, reading groups, lectures, activities that they can lead.
