As an R2 public university with Carnegie designations of Community Engagement and Leadership for Public Purpose, and as a Hispanic-Serving Institution and Minority-Serving Institution, Montclair is uniquely positioned to lead this conversation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The faculty are central to this work. Every day, through your teaching, research, and community partnerships, you help shape the habits of mind and civic capacities that a healthy democracy requires.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">_______________________________________<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">_______________________________________<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>The May 2026 Faculty Showcase Call for Papers<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">May Faculty Showcase, sponsored by the Provost\u2019s Office through the Office for Faculty Excellence (OFE) and the Center for Teaching and Academic Innovation (CTAI), among others, seeks to bring this work of supporting a healthy democracy into view, not only to celebrate it, but to create strong communities around it. For this showcase to fulfill its purpose, it requires more than presenting your work. It depends on our willingness to engage with one another\u2019s scholarship, to be present to our colleagues, and to participate in the intellectual life of the university as a shared enterprise.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We invite proposals for presentation or interactive sessions that highlight how your scholarship, pedagogy, or community engagement contributes to preparing students for lives of civic purpose and to strengthening democratic values i<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">n our local context and in the larger world.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-band-small lt-gray no-margin\"><div class=\"text-content\"><h3><strong>The Showcase will take place on campus on May 5, 2026.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Please submit a proposal, including an abstract of 150-200 words, by April 10; \u00a0participants will be notified by April 20.<\/h3>\n<div class=\"prpl-row\"><span class=\"prpl-button full-width\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/montclair.infoready4.com\/#freeformCompetitionDetail\/2008924\">Submit a Proposal <\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-row\">\n<div class=\"prpl-column one-half\">\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Possible Categories:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Teaching<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Research<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Civic or Community Engagement<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-column one-half\">\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Possible formats:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>10-minute presentation\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Pre-formed 60-minute panel<\/strong> (~3 presenters and moderator) <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p> \n\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p> \n\n<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">_______________________________________<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">_______________________________________<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><b>Vision for the May Showcase<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This event is more than a venue for sharing your work. It is a chance to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Build new collaborations with colleagues across departments, schools, colleges and disciplines<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Discover fresh ideas for your teaching, research and public service by seeing what others are doing<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Contribute to a campus-wide conversation about Montclair\u2019s role in shaping the next 250 years<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The May Faculty Showcase is intended to be a true gathering of our academic community. Its success depends on broad participation\u2014not only from those presenting, but from those who join to listen, learn, and engage.
