The Student Government Association (SGA) is a student organization which was formed in 1925.\u00a0 The SGA is composed of two separate but equal bodies, the Executive and Legislative branches.<\/p>\n
The Executive Branch has four elected officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary). The four officers and a student representative to the Montclair Board of Trustees are elected each spring. The members of the SGA cabinet are appointed by the President.<\/p>\n
The primary purpose of the Legislative Branch is to act as the representative for the undergraduate student body.\u00a0 So that this goal can be accomplished, the Legislature has been designed as a unicameral body and is structured so that it represents almost every possible area of student life.\u00a0 Legislators run for election and represent the schools on a proportionate basis. The Legislator\u2019s most important function as a student representative is to serve as a communication link between the Student Government and the student body.<\/p>\n
Clubs and organizations are classified according to function and type.<\/p>\n
On behalf of the student body, the SGA administers funds amounting to over a million and a half dollars a year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
