{"id":1556,"date":"2024-05-01T13:27:42","date_gmt":"2024-05-01T17:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/giving\/?p=1556"},"modified":"2024-05-01T13:41:25","modified_gmt":"2024-05-01T17:41:25","slug":"a-lasting-tribute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/giving\/2024\/05\/01\/a-lasting-tribute\/","title":{"rendered":"A Lasting Tribute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was an emotional and heartfelt tribute, as family, friends, faculty and staff gathered on April 12 to commemorate Classroom 314 in the Feliciano School of Business as the Mark and Mike Ben-Hayon Classroom.<\/p>\n<p>The naming marks the generosity of Ellan \u201996 and Erin Ben-Hayon, who established a scholarship in memory of Ellan\u2019s deceased brothers, Gerald \u201cMark\u201d and Michael. Ellan, who serves on the Feliciano School of Business and the Finance Department advisory boards, graduated with a bachelor\u2019s in Accounting and currently serves as chief financial officer of Bansk Group, LLC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for joining us for this meaningful occasion to celebrate philanthropy, leadership and the transformative power of education at Montclair State University,\u201d said Rita L. Walters, vice president for Development and Alumni Engagement in her welcome. \u201cThe University and the Feliciano School of Business stand as beacons of social mobility, empowering our students and their families to ascend to new heights\u2026 their success is a testament to the solid foundation provided by our outstanding faculty and visionary supporters like Ellan and Erin.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/giving\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/150\/2024\/05\/Ben-Hayon_Wideshot.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/giving\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/150\/2024\/05\/Ben-Hayon_Wideshot.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"group in room\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cMontclair was the right choice for me as a student, and I wanted to get involved and contribute to improving students\u2019 lives,\u201d said Ben-Hayon. \u201cCreating this scholarship gave purpose to my giving \u2026 It has been very fulfilling to partner with the University to honor my brothers and give back to help students in a meaningful way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joining Ellan in the dedication were his mother Paula, wife Erin and son Jake, along with some of his brothers\u2019 closest friends. A number of Feliciano School of Business faculty and staff members attended as well.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"responsive-image-holder wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"mlt-responsive-image\" data-original-image=\"\/giving\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/150\/2024\/05\/Ben-Hayon_groupmen_edited_edited.jpg\" src=\"\/responsive-media\/cache\/giving\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/150\/2024\/05\/Ben-Hayon_groupmen_edited_edited.jpg.0.1x.generic.jpg\" alt=\"group of men in front of sign\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Betsy Rosini, associate dean for Graduate and Continuing Education at the Feliciano School of Business, thanked Ben-Hayon for his service and generous support, including his involvement in building the next generation of business leaders through mentoring and the Red Hawk Student Managed Investment Fund. \u201cThis scholarship is the first one endowed for Finance students, and it will be put to good use for our students as they prepare for successful careers,\u201d Rosini said.<\/p>\n<p>The Mark and Mike Ben-Hayon Endowed Scholarship provides scholarship support to undergraduate students majoring in Finance who demonstrate financial need and merit.<\/p>\n<p>As tribute to their family\u2019s legacy, the Ben-Hayons\u2019 hope is for the scholarship support to inspire students to continually pursue education as a path to personal growth and development as well as to successful and gratifying careers.<\/p>\n<p>Past recipients of the scholarship shared their thanks with the Ben-Hayon family through personal letters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis financial support helped me in so many ways\u2026 and gave me the opportunity to focus on the next step in my professional journey,\u201d said Julianne O\u2019Halloran, a senior graduating in May.<\/p>\n<p>Megan Biehler \u201923, who obtained a full-time position as an investment analyst at Prudential Private Capital in Dallas, shared: \u201cThis opportunity would not have been possible without your support.
