Courses are offered in five, 8-week sessions and can be completed within 2-3 semesters.<\/div>\n<p>The program is designed to introduce in-service teachers to foundational concepts, skills, and methods for teaching Computer Science (CS) to students in K-12. The program objectives include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide teachers with foundational knowledge and skills for the teaching of CS and computational thinking content in U.S. classrooms<\/li>\n<li>Develop teachers professional growth and identity in CS to keep pace with global changes<\/li>\n<li>Support teachers\u2019 understanding of computational thinking and how to build students\u2019 computational thinking in the classrooms<\/li>\n<li>Build effective and appropriate interdisciplinary CS curriculum for students in K-12<\/li>\n<li>Examine issues of equity in CS and promote best-practices for the teaching of CS and computational thinking in U.S. classrooms<\/li>\n<li>Design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments for the learning of CS and computational thinking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/programs-of-study\/teacher-education-and-certification\/\">Teacher Education and Certification Programs page<\/a> to view all of our offerings from the department.<\/p>\n<p>Please refer to our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/programs-of-study\/\">programs of study<\/a>\u00a0page for a comprehensive list of all of the graduate programs\u00a0offered within the university.<\/p>\n<p><em>*F1\/J1 visa seeking students are not eligible for this program.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Admission Requirements<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>The Office of Graduate Admissions requires the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor&#8217;s degree in order to be eligible to apply for a graduate program. This checklist can be a reference point for you during the<br \/>\napplication process to ensure that you have a comprehensive understanding of the steps<br \/>\nneeded to apply, as well as all corresponding supplemental materials for your specific<br \/>\nprogram of interest.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Application Deadline: Rolling Admission<\/li>\n<li>Submit Online Application: Please create your online account and submit your application by following the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/how-to-apply\/\">general application instructions<\/a> and pay (or waive) the non-refundable $60 application fee.
