As an emerging field, child advocacy includes an understanding of parts of several disciplines: psychology, sociology, law. However, it is a field where the whole is equal to more than the sum of its parts. Briefly stated, this program aims to provide a comprehensive view of the field of child advocacy that includes both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary components.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif\">Along with the Child Advocacy and Policy (MA) &#8211; Online degree, the\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/programs-of-study\/child-advocacy-certificate\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/programs-of-study\/child-advocacy-certificate\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1693075273122000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3PvFswhIw5DuDB9FFNLdEr\">Child Advocacy Certificate \u2013 ONLINE<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0is available for graduate study. Please refer to our\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/programs-of-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/programs-of-study\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1693075273122000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0g8gdOSXkXR012LTkJC79o\">programs of study<\/a>\u00a0page for a comprehensive list of all of the graduate programs\u00a0offered within the university.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Admission Requirements<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>In order to gain admission into the program, students must meet the following criteria: bachelor\u2019s degree, grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 in their undergraduate major.<\/p>\n<p>The Office of Graduate Admissions requires the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor&#8217;s degree in order to be eligible to apply for a graduate program. Applicants with non-U.S. degrees, please visit the <a href=\"\/graduate\/how-to-apply\/international-applicants\/\">International Applicants<\/a>\u00a0page to review the U.S. degree equivalency information.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Application Checklist<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>In order to make applying for graduate school as seamless as possible for you, we have<br \/>\ncreated an application checklist. This checklist can be a reference point for you during the<br \/>\napplication process to ensure that you have a comprehensive understanding of the steps<br \/>\nneeded to apply, as well as all corresponding supplemental materials for your specific<br \/>\nprogram of interest.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Application Deadline:\u00a0Rolling Admission\u00a0<strong>(Fall admission only)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Submit Online Application: Please create your online account and submit your application by following the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/how-to-apply\/\">general application instructions<\/a> and pay (or waive) the non-refundable $60 application fee. Once this step has been completed, the online portal will allow you to upload your supplemental materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The following is a list of the supplemental materials that will accompany your application for the Child Advocacy and Policy (MA)\u00a0program:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Transcript:\u00a0One from each college attended.<\/li>\n<li>Please provide a personal statement of no more than 600 words, in which you answer the following three questions.\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li value=\"1\">How will earning a graduate degree (or graduate certificate) in child advocacy and policy help you reach your professional goals?<\/li>\n<li>What professional and life experiences have you had that have prepared you to take on this particular degree program and chosen profession?<\/li>\n<li>Serving children and families requires working with individuals of all cultures, races, ethnicities, and other diverse and varied backgrounds. Please describe your commitment to and engagement with social, racial, and\/or economic justice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>If your undergraduate grade point average (GPA) is below 3.0, please provide an additional statement of no more than 200 words that addresses the reasons for your low undergraduate GPA and how you plan to maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 if you are admitted to our program.If your undergraduate GPA is below 2.5, please provide an additional statement of no more than 200 words that addresses the reasons for your low undergraduate GPA and how you plan to maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 if you are admitted to our program.<\/li>\n<li>Letters of Recommendation: Two.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants with non-U.S. degrees, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/graduate\/how-to-apply\/international-applicants\/\">International Applicants page<\/a> to review the US degree equivalency information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Curriculum<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>This 11 course, 33 credit hour master&#8217;s program provides\u00a0a comprehensive view of the interdisciplinary field of child advocacy and the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as a child advocacy professional. Those students enrolled full time will take three courses per semester (fall and spring) and must complete a field placement (Practicum in Public Child Welfare \u2013 CHAD 620) and culminating program experience (Seminar in Child Advocacy \u2013 CHAD 680).
