Who to Contact for Advising

Non-freshman History Majors

As a history major or minor you have been assigned a faculty advisor. The name of your faculty advisor is listed in your WESS screen. You can find the contact information for your faculty advisor by going to the History Department Website.

Contact your faculty advisor if you need:

  • advice about which courses to take
  • to know if you can graduate
  • you have a question about your analysis of progress or your final audit.

Contact the Coordinator of Undergraduate Advising for the History Department if:

  • you need a credit adjustment for a History course that transferred to MSU
  • you need permission to take History courses at another institution
  • you need permission to register in a History course
  • you cannot contact your advisor OR your advisor could not answer your question

Freshman History Majors

Contact the Coordinator of Undergraduate Advising for the History Department for all inquiries.

Undeclared Students or Students Matriculated in Another Major

If you are undeclared, the Office of Academic Advising will provide you with an advisor. If you would like matriculate in the History program, please go to the Office of the History Department and complete the form.

  • you need permission to register in a History course
  • you need permission to take History courses at another institution
