State retirement system. Please refer to the <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nj.gov\/treasury\/pensions\/documents\/forms\/sc0853.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">PERS Membership Tier Chart (PDF)<\/a> for additional information.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"contrib\">Public Employees&#8217; Retirement System Contributions<\/h2>\n<dl class=\"compact\">\n<dt>Employee Contribution:<\/dt>\n<dd>7.5% of salary made on a pretax basis<\/dd>\n<dt>Employer Contribution:<\/dt>\n<dd>Determined annually by the state<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<h2 id=\"vest\">Public Employees&#8217; Retirement System Vesting<\/h2>\n<dl class=\"compact\">\n<dt>Vesting:<\/dt>\n<dd>10 years<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<h2 id=\"enroll\">How to Enroll in the Public Employees&#8217; Retirement System<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If an employee is in a permanent, regularly budgeted position they will be enrolled in PERS as of their date of hire. If an employee is hired in a provisional position, they are enrolled as of their permanent appointment date or on the 1st of the 13th continuous month of employment. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Benefits team will submit enrollment to the Division of Pensions and Benefits.<\/span> Employees have access to their Pension account via the <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/treasury\/pensions\/mbos-register.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Member Services Online System (MBOS)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, view the <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.gov\/treasury\/pensions\/pension-active-pers.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">NJ State Department of Pensions and Benefits Public Employees&#8217; Retirement System page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"workshops\">Retirement Planning Workshops for Public Employees\u2019 Retirement System Members<\/h2>\n<p>The New Jersey Department of Pensions and Benefits offers retirement planning seminars and webinars for PERS members throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>Retirement Planning seminars and webinars take a step-by-step approach to the retirement process and explain what happens after you submit your application. They explain your benefits, survivor options, group life insurance, loan repayment provisions, and the taxability of your pension. There is also a brief discussion of State Health Benefits Program and School Employees\u2019 Health Benefits Program coverage in retirement. The classroom session is approximately 3 hours in duration. The webinar is 1 \u00bd &#8211; 2 hours in duration.
