{"id":15119,"date":"2020-03-23T14:53:30","date_gmt":"2020-03-23T18:53:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/information-technology\/?page_id=15119"},"modified":"2020-03-24T13:42:47","modified_gmt":"2020-03-24T17:42:47","slug":"short-term-replacement-for-break-fix","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/information-technology\/short-term-replacement-for-break-fix\/","title":{"rendered":"Short-Term Replacement for Break Fix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University will be offering hot swaps if your University-owned machine or loaned laptop stops functioning.\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In an effort to promote social distancing, the Division of Information Technology and all local academic technology teams will schedule next-day appointments (Monday &#8211; Friday) for repairs or swaps.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Before Leaving Campus:<\/strong> After you pick up your laptop from the technician, you <strong>MUST<\/strong> log in to your laptop on campus before leaving for home.\u00a0 If you skip this step, you will not be able to successfully log in to the laptop once you get home.<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Faculty and Staff<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Should you find that your University leased or purchased laptop malfunctions; please reach out to their appropriate technical support resource for initial troubleshooting as indicated below:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Faculty\/Staff in the Feliciano School of Business (SBUS), College of Education and Human Services (CEHS) and the College of Science and Mathematics (CSAM) should contact their<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/information-technology\/it-service-desk\/academic-unit-support\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">local academic technology teams<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> during their scheduled business hours and may contact the IT Service Desk, outside of normally scheduled business hours.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All other faculty\/staff in the College of the Arts (CART), College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), the Graduate School, University College (UC) and the School of Nursing (NURS), as well as all non-faculty across all Divisions, can receive support through the IT Service Desk by calling 973-655-7971 or by emailing <\/span><a href=\"mailto:itservicedesk@montclair.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">itservicedesk@montclair.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Should a faculty or staff find that the laptop (Business Continuity Laptop) that they borrowed from the IT Service Desk malfunctions, they should contact the<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">IT Service Desk by calling 973-655-7971 or by emailing <\/span><a href=\"mailto:itservicedesk@montclair.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">itservicedesk@montclair.edu<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>What Do I Need to Do?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Should your local tech team or the IT Service Desk not be able to resolve the issue remotely, you will be provided with an appointment to visit the IT Service Desk on the 5th floor of University Hall, Monday through Friday, between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm.\u00a0 This service will be <em><strong>by appointment only<\/strong><\/em> to promote appropriate social distancing and not have overlaps with visitors.\u00a0 We are not accepting walk-in appointments.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">You are required to bring the laptop that is having issues.\u00a0 The equipment will be inventoried, a ServiceNow incident created and secured for later repair processing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For quicker turnaround, we encourage Faculty and Staff to utilize <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/information-technology\/gmail-and-google-apps-faculty-students\/?wp_logged_in=true\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Google Drive<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for storing documents.
