Save the Planet.<\/h3>\n<p>At Montclair State University, every printed page has an impact \u2014 and together, we can make that impact smaller.<\/p>\n<p>Between <strong>September 1 and October 31<\/strong>, our campus printed <strong>over 1.6 million pages<\/strong>, consuming the equivalent of <strong>147 trees<\/strong> and producing <strong>15,610 kilograms of CO\u2082<\/strong> \u2014 enough energy to power a light bulb for nearly <strong>1 million hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s do our part to reduce waste while maintaining efficient and sustainable printing practices.<\/p>\n<h4> Eco-Friendly Printing Tips<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Print only when necessary.<\/strong> Before hitting \u201cPrint,\u201d ask yourself if digital sharing or cloud storage could be a better alternative.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use duplex (double-sided) printing.<\/strong> Nearly half of all campus prints were duplex \u2014 let\u2019s push that number even higher.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Choose grayscale over color.<\/strong> 79% of our pages were printed in black and white \u2014 a great start! Try to reserve color printing for essential materials.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoid single-use print jobs.<\/strong> Combine documents into a single print session to reduce warm-up energy and idle toner usage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recycle responsibly.<\/strong> Use paper recycling bins in labs and offices to ensure used paper is repurposed, not wasted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4> Together, Small Changes Add Up<\/h4>\n<p>With <strong>8,843 active users<\/strong> and <strong>482 printers<\/strong> across campus, even small shifts in printing habits can lead to massive environmental savings.
