Train from NY

Trains from New York Penn Station to Montclair State University

New Jersey Transit’s Montclair-Boonton line stops at the Montclair Heights station which is steps away from our campus venues (please make sure you do not get off at the following station – Montclair State University station – which is too far from our usual locations for events). Trains take roughly 50 minutes from New York Penn Station to campus on the Montclair-Boonton line. A one-way ticket costs roughly $7.

Due to delays around rush hour, we suggest arriving early (i.e., leaving two hours before) and strolling around campus, perhaps visiting the George Segal Art Gallery or having coffee at Cafè Diem.

You may also utilize NJ Transit’s Trip Planner tool or view a PDF of the Montclair-Boonton (MidTown Direct) Line Schedule.

Note that there are no trains from NY to Montclair State U (nor vice versa) on the weekends. See directions for bus lines.
