Feb. 17<br \/>\n6:30pm &#8211; 8:30pm<br \/>\nMemorial Auditorium<br \/>\n<strong>RSVP Required by Fri Feb. 13<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2017\/12\/rocco-300x221-300x221.png\" alt=\"ROCCO\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This program is an occasion for exploring the relationship between Luchino Visconti\u2019s operatic 1960\u2019s film\u00a0<em>Rocco and His Brothers<\/em>\u00a0and Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten\u2019s intensely physical choreography for the dance performance\u00a0<em>ROCCO<\/em>, which takes both thematic and aesthetic inspiration from the film. Introduced by Jed Wheeler (ACP\/Kasser Theatre) and moderated by Dr. Teresa Fiore (Inserra Chair), the conversation with the two award-winning artists as well as Dereck Cayla,\u00a0Edward Lloyd, Quentin Dehaye, and Arnaud Macquet\u00a0(ICKamsterdam dancers), will revolve around such questions as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is the relevance of a film about post-WWII industrialization and urbanization and its effects on an impoverished family for a dance choreography created in 2012?<\/li>\n<li>How is the language of film translated into the language of dance to convey the psychological tension between two brothers boxing in life and in the ring?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Select scenes from the film will be screened during the conversation and dancers will perform parts of the choreography in order to illustrate how to \u201cdance a film.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This program is part of a larger collaborative event at Montclair State University (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/dancing-a-film\/\">View page<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Watch the dancers of ICKAmsterdam talk about performing ROCCO:<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Video: ROCCO - BEHIND THE SCENES\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/52383040?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\" style=\"width: 500px; height: 281px; border: 0px solid #000;\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Seven Necessities: An Artistic Manifesto&#8221; by Emio Greco and Pieter C.
