Fiore’s teaching and research interests include 19th-, 20th-, and 21st-century Italian literature, Italian cinema, Italian American culture, and immigration in contemporary Italy, with a theoretical focus on space.<\/p>\n
Her research has been supported over the years by internal and external funding (she is the recipient of fellowships such as De Bosis at Harvard, Rockefeller, and Fulbright), and enriched by teaching graduate seminars as Visiting Assistant Professor at Harvard University, NYU, and Rutgers University.<\/p>\n
She is the author of\u00a0Pre-Occupied Spaces: Remapping Italy\u2019s Transnational Migrations and Colonial Legacies\u00a0<\/em>(Fordham UP 2017). The book has received multiple recognitions\/awards in the U.S., U.K. and Italy, and has been presented at twenty campuses, and continues to be the occasion for invited lectures both in the U.S. and abroad.\u00a0For more information, see\u00a0Pre-Occupied Spaces: Prizes, Reviews and Presentations<\/a><\/p>\n Fiore is also the editor of the 2006 issue of\u00a0Quaderni del \u2018900<\/em>, devoted to John Fante, and the co-editor of a special section of the\u00a0Journal of Modern Italian Studies<\/em>\u2019 Fall 2018 issue about the migration \u201ccrisis\u201d in the Mediterranean Sea. Her numerous articles on migration to\/from Italy linked to 20th- and 21st<\/sup>-century Italian literature and cinema have been published in Italian, English and Spanish in both journals (Bollettino d\u2019italianistica; Annali d\u2019Italianistica; Studi italiani<\/em>;\u00a0El hilo de la fabula; Diaspora<\/em>;\u00a0Zibaldone<\/em>;\u00a0Journal of Italian Media and Cinema Studies<\/em>) and edited collections (Postcolonial Italy;\u00a0<\/em>the MLA volume\u00a0Teaching Italian American Literature, Film, and Popular Culture; The Cultures of Italian Migration<\/em>;\u00a0The Routledge History of Italian Americans;<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0New Italian Migrations to the United States, Vol. 2<\/em>).\u00a0 She has also published in the field of Translation (Donne in Traduzione<\/em>), and on the topic of innovation in Italian Studies (TILCA<\/em>) with a special focus on the concept of Critical Made in Italy.\u00a0Fiore\u2019s current project focuses on food and hunger in Sicily at the time of the Allied Landing in 1943<\/a>.<\/p>\n For a full list of scholarly activities, see description and CV on her profile page<\/a>.<\/p>\n
