Oct. 21, 2017 (<a href=\"https:\/\/georgetown.app.box.com\/s\/q2wwqvbh847065stio537t709kjxq0bz\" target=\"_blank\">click here for the full program<\/a>). Dr. Fiore will present the newly launched and completed projects in Italian Studies offered to students of Italian at Montclair State, such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/chss\/inserra-chair\/opportunities-for-students\/summer-course\/summer-course-2017\/\" target=\"_blank\">Summer Italian Immersion Course for College Credit<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/chss\/inserra-chair\/opportunities-for-students\/ita-and-business\/\" target=\"_blank\">Italian and Business Initiatives<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/chss\/inserra-chair\/opportunities-for-students\/italian-titling\/\" target=\"_blank\">Italian Translation Curriculum and Internship Project<\/a>. The conference will provide a venue for educators to share innovative approaches and pedagogical strategies that have been successfully tested and adopted at both a course and program level in the high school and college classroom and it will feature presentations by professors from Georgetown U, Columbia U, Brown U, Cornell U, among others, as well as representatives of the Italian institutions such t<\/span><span><span>he University of Perugia.<\/span><\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span>On <\/span><span class=\"m-6384897215964534666gmail-aqj\"><span>Thur. Nov. 2, Dr. Fiore will give a presentation titled <\/span><\/span><span class=\"m-6384897215964534666gmail-aqj\"><span>\u201cFormer Empire and Current Migration\u201d at an <\/span><\/span><span>international&nbsp;conference on&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSe1di0wSGhn8JdPXzAtvbmW71HTrEeKrj02mMFLFNz1L2pYBA\/viewform\"><span>The Crisis of Mediterranean Migration<\/span><span> at NYU<\/span><\/a><span> that will feature presenters from NYU, Columbia U, The <span class=\"il\">New<\/span> School, Rutgers, the University of Chicago as well as a journalist from the <em><span class=\"il\">New<\/span> York Times<\/em>.<\/span> This international group of specialists and practitioners from the academic and public sectors will discuss a range of issues concerning&nbsp;Mediterranean migration, including&nbsp;both the longer history of the Mediterranean as a maritime region of population movement, the hardening of the maritime frontiers in relation to the EU Schengen borders, the humanitarian emergency symbolized by Lampedusa, and the tri-continental Mediterranean migrant movements involving Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
