Sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright programs provide funding for faculty, students, scholars and professionals to undertake\u00a0advanced research,\u00a0university teaching, graduate study, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright Program has provided approximately 318,000 participants\u2014chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential \u2014 with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.\u00a0Montclair State University is proud of our continuing participation in the Fulbright, and the Office of International Academic Initiatives is the central resource on campus for both U.S. Student and U.S. Scholar Fulbright Programs.<\/p>\n

U.S. Scholar Program: for Montclair State faculty<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The Fulbright Scholar Program offers U.S. faculty and administrators grants to lecture, conduct research, or participate in seminars around the world. The program is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.<\/p>\n

The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Under a cooperative agreement with the Bureau, the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) assists in the administration of the Fulbright Scholar Program Workshop for faculty and professionals. Programs<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Within the Fulbright Scholar Program, there are different opportunities in which to participate.\u00a0There is no longer a limit to the number of programs you can complete. You may participate in any combination of programs as much as you\u2019d like.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

CORE<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Deadline: See CORE page <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Core Fulbright Scholar Program selects about 600 U.S. faculty and professionals each year to lecture and\/or conduct research abroad. Opportunities are available in many countries in a variety of academic and professional fields.<\/p>\n

Specialist<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Deadline: Rolling<\/strong><\/p>\n

This program is designed to award grants to qualified U.S. faculty and professionals in select disciplines to engage in short-term collaborative two to six week projects at host institutions in over 100 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n

International Education Administrators <\/strong><\/a>\u2013 Deadline: varies by location, check International Education Administrators page<\/strong><\/p>\n

The International Education Administrators seminars program helps international education professionals and senior higher education officials from the U.S. create connections with the societal, cultural and higher education systems of select countries.<\/p>\n

Distinguished Chairs Program<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Deadline: See Distinguished Chairs Program page<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program selects approximately forty distinguished lecturing, distinguished research, and distinguished lecturing\/research scholars each year for awards ranging from three to 12 months. Candidates should have a significant publication and teaching history.<\/p>\n

Other Opportunities<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In addition to the four awards listed above, there may be other awards and seminars being offered. Please check the\u00a0CIES listing of Fulbright Programs<\/a> for the latest opportunities.<\/a><\/p>\n

Scholar in Residence Program<\/a><\/p>\n

This program brings visiting scholars and professionals from abroad to lecture at U.S. colleges and universities for one semester or one academic year. Preference is given to minority serving institutions, but others may apply as part of a partnership.<\/a><\/p>\n

Outreach Lecturing Fund<\/a><\/p>\n

An opportunity which enables Fulbright Visiting Scholars who are currently in the U.S. to accept short, guest lecturing invitations at colleges and universities.<\/a><\/p>\n

NEXUS Regional Scholar Program<\/a><\/p>\n

The Fulbright Regional Network for Applied Research (NEXUS) Program will bring together a network of junior scholars, professionals and mid-career applied researchers from the United States and other Western Hemisphere nations for a series of three seminar meetings and a Fulbright exchange experience.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program<\/a><\/p>\n

Offers educators the opportunity to exchange teaching positions with a teacher from another country for one semester or academic year.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program<\/a><\/p>\n

Recognizes and encourages excellence in primary and secondary classroom teaching in the U.S. and abroad.<\/p>\n

Application Deadlines and Eligibility Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n
