Music Therapy

Apply as Undergraduate Students (Freshman and Transfer)

The audition process for this area of study in Music Therapy includes:

  1. An audition on your primary instrument or voice. Primary instrument audition requirements can be accessed via the Apply page.
  2. Interview with Music Therapy faculty member. As part of the interview, undergraduate candidates are required to sing a song from any genre of music (popular, rock, blues, jazz, show, etc.) while self-accompanying on piano or guitar. Use of basic chords to support the harmonies of the song — versus precise, written accompaniment — is fully acceptable.

Note: Transfer students who wish to transfer music history credits must submit a syllabus for each music history course for faculty review and approval.

Apply as Graduate Students

The audition process for this area of study includes:

  1. An audition on your primary instrument or voice. Primary instrument audition requirements can be accessed via the Apply page.
  2. Interview with music therapy faculty member. As part of the interview, graduate candidates are required to sing two songs from any genre of music (popular, rock, blues, jazz, show, etc.), self-accompanying one with piano and the other with guitar. Use of basic chords to support the harmonies of the song — versus precise, written accompaniment — is fully acceptable.

Note: Transfer students who wish to transfer music history credits must submit a syllabus for each music history course for faculty review and approval.

General Notes
  • Upon acceptance to the Cali School, various placement tests will be administered.
  • Non-music majors may only take general education music courses.
  • Music minors are not currently offered.
