(Note a 7:30 pm concert both nights).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p8\"><strong>Auditions for the 2026 program<\/strong> for student and faculty solos, duos\/trios\/quartets, and chamber ensembles will be <strong>held in-person in Leshowitz Recital Hall<\/strong> on <strong>Tuesday,<\/strong> <strong>April 28 between 12 \u2013 3:30 pm.<\/strong> Audition timeslots will be available via Sign-up Genius once applications have closed. Please note the requirements below.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"s7\">2026-27 juniors, seniors, graduate students &amp; faculty are eligible to apply. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You must audition with the specific repertoire you wish to perform for <em>Kaleidoscope. <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li9\">Repertoire must have been successfully performed in a previous public setting (e.g., recital, jury, Cali Midweek, etc.) by end of SP26 semester. <em>Kaleidoscope<\/em> may not be your first experience with this repertoire.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li9\">Students \u2013 please discuss repertoire choice with your studio teacher first and be sure they support your application. Studio teachers (or their proxy) are asked to attend the Tech-Dress Rehearsal (Wed, Sep 30 @ 2 \u2013 4:30 pm) to give critical artistic feedback prior to the first concert.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\">Both concerts will be livestreamed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Repertoire selection info: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Kaleidoscope <\/em>is a \u201cshowcase\u201d celebration of the Cali School, with multiple styles and genres featured. Virtuosic\/entertaining music is therefore highly desirable. Performance quality must be excellent.<\/li>\n<li>Factor in audience attention span and background noise during stage changeovers which will occur behind the curtain while you\u2019re performing.<\/li>\n<li>Preferred duration @ 4 minutes. <em>Note:<\/em> pieces shorter than 3 minutes are typically not helpful; solos in excess of 5 minutes discouraged (must be \u2018exceptional\u2019).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Please be specific\/accurate<\/strong> with the <em>duration<\/em>, indicating the number of minutes and seconds for your music (<em>example:<\/em> 4:40 = 4 mins 40 secs). Please, do not guess timing.<\/li>\n<li>Consider cutting repeats or modifying an introduction to reduce duration if performance time is an issue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Staging Requirements:<\/strong> Due to large ensemble changeovers on the main stage during your performance, some noise from behind the curtain will be inevitable (though we endeavor to keep it minimal). Plan accordingly.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage proper will be utilized by the major\/large ensembles only.<\/li>\n<li>Performances without piano are <em>highly desirable<\/em> to facilitate program variety &amp; utilize house locations other than the pit (e.g. mezzanine and orchestra balconies)<\/li>\n<li>Basic amplification equipment is possible. Please describe your needs fully on the audition form. If selected, you\u2019ll coordinate your needs further with Andy Dickerson for the tech-dress and concerts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Kasser Tech-Dress Rehearsal:<\/strong> If selected for the concert, you are required to attend the Tech-Dress Rehearsal on the <strong>Wednesday, September 30 between 2 \u2013 4:30 pm.<\/strong> There are no exceptions. If you are unable to participate in the Tech-Dress Rehearsal you will not be selected for the program.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"ol2\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\"><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Audition form deadline: 5 pm Friday, March 27, 2026,<\/strong> via email.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Please complete information carefully, specifically:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Which large ensembles you <em>anticipate<\/em> performing in so we can avoid personnel conflicts on the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li9\">Save your Audition Form as a <strong>Word Doc or PDF<\/strong> with the following format: LAST NAME\/ENSEMBLE \u2013 Kaleidoscope 2026<\/li>\n<li class=\"li8\"><strong>Email<\/strong> your Audition Form to Gab Guida (<a href=\"mailto:guidag1@montclair.edu\"><span class=\"s8\">guidag1@montclair.edu<\/span><\/a>) and copy Dr. Buchanan (<a href=\"mailto:buchananh@montclair.edu\"><span class=\"s8\">buchananh@montclair.edu<\/span><\/a>).
