Music Performance)<\/strong>, who has been appointed <strong data-start=\"329\" data-end=\"378\">2nd Trumpet of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"383\" data-end=\"805\">A native of Toms River, New Jersey, Ricotta studied at Montclair State under Professor <strong data-start=\"470\" data-end=\"491\">Donald Batchelder<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"493\" data-end=\"507\">Peter Bond<\/strong> of the Metropolitan Opera, and world-renowned baroque trumpet soloist <strong data-start=\"578\" data-end=\"595\">John Thiessen<\/strong>. During his time at Montclair, he fondly recalls performing with the University Wind Symphony at the 2019 CBDNA conference in Tempe, Arizona\u2014an experience that remains a highlight of his undergraduate years.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"807\" data-end=\"1219\">After graduating from Montclair in 2020, Ricotta earned a <strong data-start=\"865\" data-end=\"922\">Master of Music in Trumpet Performance and Literature<\/strong> and a <strong data-start=\"929\" data-end=\"956\">Performer\u2019s Certificate<\/strong> at the Eastman School of Music, an <strong data-start=\"992\" data-end=\"1027\">Artist Diploma with distinction<\/strong> from the OAcademy Music Conservatory, and is now pursuing his <strong data-start=\"1090\" data-end=\"1116\">Doctor of Musical Arts<\/strong> at Michigan State University under <strong data-start=\"1152\" data-end=\"1170\">Justin Emerich<\/strong>, where he also serves as a Graduate Assistant.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1608\">Beyond his recent appointment in Lansing, Ricotta has performed with numerous professional ensembles, including the <strong data-start=\"1337\" data-end=\"1458\">Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Grand Rapids Symphony, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra,<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"1497\">Brass Band of Battle Creek<\/strong>. His artistry has taken him across North and Central America as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1610\" data-end=\"1987\">Equally dedicated to teaching, Ricotta has held positions at both the Eastman School of Music and Michigan State University. He has taught <strong data-start=\"1749\" data-end=\"1821\">Baroque Trumpet Studies, Brass Methods, Fundamental Trumpet Lessons,<\/strong> and coached chamber ensembles. He also works with the Spartan Marching Band and has mentored students who have gone on to achieve success in national competitions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1989\" data-end=\"2330\">Ricotta has studied with many distinguished trumpet artists, including <strong data-start=\"2060\" data-end=\"2152\">James Thompson, Matilda Lloyd, Mauro Maur, John Thiessen, Peter Bond, Donald Batchelder,<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2157\" data-end=\"2175\">Justin Emerich<\/strong>. His festival appearances include the <strong data-start=\"2214\" data-end=\"2267\">American Bach Soloists Academy, Sinf\u00f3nica Azteca,<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2272\" data-end=\"2285\">OAcademy,<\/strong> where he performed alongside <strong data-start=\"2315\" data-end=\"2327\">Yo-Yo Ma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2332\" data-end=\"2544\">The Cali School of Music congratulates James Reed Ricotta on this exciting new chapter in his career.
