Dr. Sharon Wilson Foerster Language, Business and Culture Scholarship

Posted in: Internship, Spanish

Apply now to participate in a virtual international internship opportunity in Argentina, Chile or Costa Rica with Academics Programs International (API).

Dr. Sharon Foerster, a Montclair State alumna, will offer multiple scholarships to first-generation students majoring in Language, Business & Culture, in the Spanish concentration.

Dr. Foerster tells us that international internships are so valuable because

  • It is one of the best ways to acquire intercultural communication skills, build relationships and broaden your understanding of other cultures that will prepare you for working in a globalized world. (Example: direct communication style of Spaniards, formalities in Mexico, importance of family)
  • The experience promotes intellectual curiosity, cultural sensitivity, personal growth as you become more flexible, adaptable, self-aware and confident. Being curious is such an asset for a cultural explorer.
  • An internship with a foreign organization differentiates you from other job candidates.

The internship features designated supervisor/mentor in the host country, orientations, guided skill development and academic credit, in addition to a one-week stay in the host country (airfare and accommodations covered up to $2,000). Some of the fields are Business & Management, Marketing, Communication & Media, Computer Science, Environment, Hospitality, and Tourism.
