Free French tutoring<\/strong>: Mondays from 2-4, Wednesdays from 1-3, and Thursdays from 1-3 from September 1 until Dec. 17. https:\/\/montclair.zoom.us\/j\/94750320210<\/a>. Don\u2019t worry if you get a \u201cwaiting room\u201d message: the tutor is likely with another student.<\/p>\n

Conversation Hour<\/strong>: Wednesdays from 3-4 in the Schmitt 2nd floor atrium. Generally with snacks! Sometimes with pique-nique or randonn\u00e9es (hikes).<\/p>\n

#RethinkingUniversalism in 21st Century France<\/a> is hosted by the University of Buffalo, but we’re cross-posting since this rich online series of 20 talks has so much to interest us! Register ahead of time for these Zoom talks about the history and future of French universalism and its paradoxes (Haiti, France, Martinique), the history of race, migration, and identity, and much more!<\/p>\n

Thursday 16 December, 4:15-6pm.<\/strong> Graduate Student Open House and mixer. Meet in Schmitt 241J or by Zoom (see email for link). Snacks, impromptu advisement, and celebration of a rough semester for the books.<\/p>\n

Study Abroad Fair<\/strong>, Wed. Sept. 22 from 11-3pm Student Center Ballrooms.<\/p>\n

Tombola!<\/strong> Enter the \u201ctombola geante\u201d (giant raffle) for gift cards to purchase books and supplies by Friday, September 17 at 7pm! This is a massive online gift card raffle to help with beginning-of-term books and supplies (hundreds of $ in prizes!). Open to students currently enrolled in French classes, undergraduate and graduate. Extra entries for French majors and minors. Enter the raffle here (use your @montclair.edu address to open the form) by September 17 at 7pm. Tuesday, 30 November<\/strong>: livestream (tv coverage starts early and the ceremony at 11:15) of the ceremony honoring American Josephine Baker, an entertainment superstar, a French hero of the World War II Resistance, a Civil Rights leader, ch\u00e2telaine (owner of a French castle), and now, the first Black woman (and sixth woman) to be memorialized at the Panth\u00e9on.
