“Safe Campus, Strong Voices” Marks Campus Safety Awareness Month

September is National Campus Safety Month and the Montclair State Police Department has teamed up with the nation’s leading nonprofit campus safety advocacy organization, the Clery Center for Security on Campus, and other university departments and organizations to sponsor a series of special events for students, faculty, and staff.

Called “Safe Campus, Strong Voices,” this campus-wide campaign is designed to raise safety awareness and to promote good practices in personal safety.  Events include:

Health Promotion at Montclair State, ongoing in September
Health Promotion at Montclair State is sponsoring a poster campaign in the Student Center to promote information on the amnesty program for reporting dangerous alcohol situations for medical assistance. The Alcohol Task Force will be continuing their efforts to educate students on making responsible choices and to further research ways to increase awareness of this policy that encourages reporting of dangerous situations related to alcohol use.

Week of September 24 is National Hazing Prevention Week
The Title IX program will be hosting tables at the Student Center to promote the Hazing Awareness Education Program. In addition, this office is offering training to any organization on campus that wishes to be trained in the MSU Step Up Against Violence – a nationally recognized bystander intervention program designed to encourage active involvement in the safety program here at Montclair State.
