'Projected Visions-Montclair 2000' features MSU and local artists

Projected Visions-Montclair 2000, a juried exhibition conceived as a collaborative effort between Montclair State University Art Galleries and Studio Montclair, Inc., will be on view at MSU's University Gallery from Jan. 24 through March 3. Studio Montclair, Inc., is a non-profit organization of professional visual artists. It is free and open to the public.

The exhibition is part of MSU's ARTFEST 2000, a year-long arts and cultural festival that is designed to promote local and global unity.

Nan Rosenthal, a consultant for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, served as the juror for Projected Visions. She selected art work in various media by 36 artists who live or work in Montclair or who are students or alumni of MSU.

Participating artists include, from Montclair: Fern Bass, Bill Billec, Virginia Schaffer Block, Janet Boltax, Sandra Chamberlin, Alice Bryant Cubiccotti, Lucia DeChino, Lorraine DeProspo, Lori Field, Tim Gaydos, Teri Gelenian-Wood, Marion Held, Catherine Kinkade, Lancelott, William McCreath, Leslie Montana, Arthur Paxton, Matt Roberts, Jessica Russo, Jay Seldin, Charlee Swanson, Malcolm Sweet, Sarah Teofanov, Dorian Vallejo, Janice Belove, Nora Chavoooshian, Wendy Lewis, Ken Otsuka, Patricia Ritchie and Pam Roth.

Also participating is Olga Cruz from Bloomfield, Adam Boyette from Jersey City and G. Fitzpatrick, Roberta Klein, Katherine Philip and Jessica Sporn from Glen Ridge.

The opening reception will be held on Feb. 10 from 3-7 p.m. in the University Gallery in Life Hall. Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 6 p.m.
