The ninth annual reception for Montclair State University authors was held on April 18, 2017, in Sprague Library’s Periodicals Reading Room and faculty and staff gathered to recognize those who had recently authored books or released music CDs, and to browse through the displayed works.
“This year we have 52 novels, poetry and non-fiction books, textbooks, music CDs and Segal Gallery exhibit catalogues with all colleges, schools, Segal Gallery and Sprague Library represented,” noted Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Willard Gingerich, co-sponsor of the event together with Library Services Dean Judith Lin Hunt. “We can say with confidence now, looking back over nine years of these celebrations and the continuing volume of books and media presented each year, that Montclair State faculty have achieved and maintain an exceptional level of research production.”
More than 388 works have been published by University personnel since the first authors’ reception, which was held in 2009.
Many of the authors and members of the University community were on hand to mingle and talk about the works. The reception provides the opportunity for everyone to see what their colleagues have produced, to discuss the works, and to exchange ideas for future collaborations. A booklet with a cover image and synopsis of each of the new works was available to take away.
The new works will be on display in the exhibit case in the lobby of Sprague Library during the summer, and copies of the booklet are available at the Library’s circulation and reference desks. All members of the University community are encouraged to pick up a copy.
