College of Education and Human Services Students Recognized at Annual Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday, April 25, The College of Education and Human Services recognized nearly 100 students, alumni, and distinguished professionals at their 2018 Annual Awards Ceremony.  Dean Tamara Lucas prefaced her introductions by saying, “Tonight we take the opportunity to recognize your potential—and for some of our honorees, your already considerable accomplishments—and to say thank you for who you are and what you do.”  What followed Dean Lucas’s sincere words was a celebration of members of the College, past and present.

To honor the award recipients, the program featured recognitions honoring students and alumni within the College’s eight academic departments and the Center of Pedagogy. The Ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Dean’s Awards, given to outstanding professionals making a positive difference in their community.  The recipients included Mr. Malcom Outlaw, Principal of the Harriett Tubman School in Newark, NJ and Mr. Tim Beaumont, Principal of Redwood Elementary School in West Orange, NJ.

A number of CEHS faculty and staff, family members and friends were in attendance to celebrate and support the award recipients on this special night.  The conclusion of the Ceremony marked the beginning of students’ finals week and the proverbial countdown to the end of the school year.
