At the end of June, the Exercise Science and Physical Education department, in collaboration with the office of International Engagement, hosted a group of students from Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, England.
The students visited New York City, toured MSU’s sport facilities and attended a Yankee vs. Boston Red Sox baseball game. Additionally, they experienced masterclasses and lectures on topics such as biomechanics, parabolics, coaching, a cardiopulmonary lab and sports psychology. The faculty that participated in the program through lectures and off campus activities included Dr. Susana Juniu, Dr. David Phillips, Dr. Robert Horn, Dr. Peter Hosick, Dr. Robert Gilbert, Dr. Klara Gubacs and Dr. Kristin Scrabis Fletcher.
Dr. Greg Doncaster, Lecturer in Coaching and Sports Performance at Edge Hill University, noted that the students had an unforgettable time. He stated, “the trip to Montclair State University was a brilliant experience and one which the students were still excitedly talking about during our return to the UK. The variety of opportunities they had, the academic sessions they experienced and the many kindnesses shown to them by the campus community including students of Montclair was exceptional.”
Future programming between the two universities is already being discussed. For more information about Edge Hill University, please visit: https://www.edgehill.ac.uk/
