New Campus Carpooling Network Announced

Web-based system makes setting up carpools easy.

In an e-mail to the University community, President Susan Cole has announced the launch of a new campus carpooling network available to students, faculty and staff. The following is the text of the e-mail:

The rising cost of fuel has become an increasing hardship for many employees who travel to and from campus by car. It has come to my attention that members of the Montclair State University community, in an effort to share the cost of travel, have begun informally to exchange commuting information with colleagues for the purposes of arranging carpooling.

For both economic and ecological reasons, carpooling is to be both commended and encouraged. It also benefits the entire University community by decreasing the number of cars on campus, thereby improving access, parking and the campus environment.

Therefore, in response to our employees’ growing interest in carpooling, the University is offering a new Web tool to make it easier for Montclair State employees to find geographic matches for the purpose of creating carpool arrangements. This system is protected by MSU Net ID log-in and is available only for MSU employees.
