Hunt Named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week

Montclair, NJ (11/24/08) – Senior linebacker Cornell Hunt added one more accolade from the NJAC to his already impressive resume as he was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The NJAC Defensive Player of the Year collected his eighth weekly honor from the league as he put the finishing touches on one of the finest careers for a Red Hawk defensive player.

Hunt collected 16 tackles and added a sack, breakup and returned an interception 54 yards for a touchdown in his final collegiate game as MSU fell to Albright 42-14.

The three-time All-Conference selection had 12 unassisted tackles and became the first player since Sam Mills (1978-80) to post three straight 100-tackle campaigns as he finished with exactly 100.

Hunt finished third all-time with 367 tackles and holds the MSU career mark for unassisted tallies with 191. Ranked fourth in the NJAC in tackles per game (9.1) he also had 10 pass breakups and three interceptions this season.
