Skin Cancer Prevention

  • The sun's rays are the strongest between 10 am and 4 pm.  Limit sun exposure during the hours.
  • If you are outside during these hours,  remember to reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours (especially after swimming or sweating), seek shade whenever possible.
  • For extra protection wear protective clothing. Wear a hat, sunglasses or even a long sleeved shirt.
  • Use sun block lotion of at least SPF 15 - apply generously.
  • Remember to practice these tips even on cloudy days, or throughout the winter
  • Perform self skin exams at least once a month using the "ABCD" rule, Asymmetry, Border, Change in Color and Diameter.
  • Look for sunless ways of attaining a healthy glow by using spray tanning, self tanner lotion or bronzing make up
  • Skin cancer is always a risk and can happen to anyone and anywhere on the body.
