Brown Advances to 55 Meter Hurdle Finals at NCAA Championships

Greencastle, IN (3/12/10) - Junior Will Brown (Gloucester, NJ / Palmyra) will get a chance to defend his national title in the 55 meter hurdles as he advanced to Saturday's finals posting the third-fastest time during the preliminaries on Friday evening at the Hollentsteiner Track Center on the campus of DePauw University.

Brown registered a time of 7.54 seconds as he finished first in his heat. Brown will look to become the first MSU male athlete to win consecutive NCAA indoor titles. DeWayne Stevens is the last Montclair male athlete to accomplish the feat overall as he took home 400 meter outdoor titles in 1992 and 1993. Brown will compete in the finals on Saturday, March 13 at approximately 2:35 pm.

Brown entered the meet with the third-fastest time in the nation as he ran 7.52 in capturing the event at the 2010 NJAC Championships in late February. Last year Brown set a school record at he blazed to a time of 7.39 seconds to become the first male national champion for Montclair State since Enrique Llanos took top honors in the same event in 2002.

Brown will not be the only Red Hawks in action on Saturday. Senior Eugene Asimou (Livingston, NJ / Livingston) will take part in the shot put event which is scheduled for 1:00 pm. Asimou enters with the second-best throw in Division III this year at 17.06 meters which he also reached at the NJAC Championships.
